Californian Cool

I've always wanted to be cool enough to just carry a skateboard and have a burning desire to get a chopper, so it's probably unsurprising that I have an unwavering affection for Lords of Dogtown (Dir. Catherine Hardwicke, 2005). It immediately transports me to the dry heat of 1970s California and makes me want to pull on a black fedora and crochet bikini. With more than one bohemian bone in my body, the nonchalant Californian style of the Dogtown kids is inspirational in so many ways. Boys with waist length hair, dittos jeans, and sunbathing in swimming pools-surely the epitome of grunge cool.
