White Me

If you pick up any recent fashion magazine it seems white is the colour of the summer, a no brainer really-everyone knows the supremely flattering potential of summer tan + white dress. However Thomas Nutzl's editorial in this month's UK Elle demonstrates the new breed of white. Styled by Anne-Marie Curtis, the shoot combines futuristic, abstract pieces with delicate broderie anglaise and sheer lace, demonstarting the modern approach to white which is both classic, feminie and modern. Acne's white ripped skinny jeans are also an example of how this summer's penchant for white is edgier and a little less suagr coated. As big fan of the dark side, donning the bright and white could be a little bit daunting, however this gorgeous Balmain jacket has thoroughly converted me. Leather, studded and boyfriend blazer style, this jacket could definitely tear me away from my trusty black biker jacket. At over £2,000 it's a little out of my price range so I might try and hunt down topshop's sold-out cream lether, gold studded biker jacket on ebay instead...

Muse of the Moment

Not only does she have a body that might even give Gisele body-envy and one of the most beautiful faces on the catwalk, Rosie Huntington-Whitely also has some serious style credentials through managing to combine timeless elegance with up to the minute trends. The stunning grecian dress she wore to the Elle and HnM style awards 2009 is soft and romamtic and yet she looks equally at home in PVC leggings and biker boots. With those legs its no surprise she's a fan of shorter hemlines, often going for statement dresses, such as this Peter Pilotto dress (top, centre image), that are played down with black heels and tailored jackets. What I like the most about her is her chameleon ability to surprise and experiment whilst still maintaining a gorgeously glossy sophistication no matter what she wears.

Isabel Marant

Going out tonight for the first time in forever and am getting a tad over excited about wearing something half decent after many days spent revising in leggings and sweatshirts...dreaming of dressing like an Isabel Marant girl, all London grunge meets Parisian sophistication. Those boots are getting my heart going almost as much as Alexander Wang's array of fringed and studded peep toe platforms did in his S/S 09 collection.

I'll probably end up pulling on a trusty american apparel dress instead. But it's always fun to pretend....

The Row

I have nothing to wear and I'm bored of all my clothes...cliche yes, but does explain the envy I felt when watching this video of The Row. It's from their 2007 holiday collection but when I came upon it the other day it still looks just as fresh and modern as when I saw it the first time. It might be old but it's still fun. Oh to look like that every morning...

Fringe Me

Fringe MeI know, I know, fringeing is old news-my housemates and I could set up a minnetonka outlet store with the amount fringed booties we all own. Nevertheless I'm still very much in love with tassels and like the way fringeing is now no longer confined to boho bags and footwear (although I still have a soft spot for both, hence the inclusion of this JJ Winters bag. Top of the list for any fringe junkie) and can be edgy and smart just as easily as laid-back and low key. I want this Maje dress so much-its my perfect summer dress as the fringeing down the side is secondary to the bright and beautiful print. Whilst the All Saints tassel gilet is a statement piece, the fringeing on the black Topshop mini is really subtle and is just asking to be sexed up with these killer Topshop heels. I mixed up the fringeing with basics such as the LNA t-shirt, as well as leather, suede and denim to give texture and basically just play with all the pieces I've been obsessing over recently. Fringe Me by Lucy_wills featuring J Brand jeans

I love this crochet body from Topshop Unique and can't stop envisioning it tucked into ripped jeans or high-waisted denim hotpants. It also gives me the perfetc excuse to buy the american apparel mesh leotard that I've been hankering after for a while, just in case it's seriosuly see-through...

Love in the afternoon....

The feeling of Camilla Akrans' photos of Lily Donaldson is perfectly captured by the Romantic and bohemian title 'Love in the afternoon'which reflects the soft lighting and delictae pieces Lily is wearing. I'm a huge fan of both Akrans and Donaldson so this collaboration is transfixing. I have to (embarrisingly) admit, this editorial is especially appealing right now as having just booked my ticket to the Secret Garden party this summer, the whole flowers-in-the-hair vibe is getting me in the mood for some bare-foot fun.

I'm obsessed with ebaying right now what with the credit crunch and all, I love being able to pick up a unique piece for under £20, and I'm especially impressed with my latest ebay purchase-£12.00 got me these vintage little round sunglasses. Now I just need some sun....

Muse of the moment

I only discovered Rumi's blog fashiontoast about 4 months ago but it is now the first thing I log onto in the morning. Model Rumi and her boyfriend Colin succeed in creating truly amazing editorials in which Rumi styles grungey, L.A looks to perfection. She can count model turned designer Erin Wasson as a friend too-need I say more? Check out her blog at http://www.fashiontoast.com/ and in the meantime be inspired by these awesome pictures.

I love the seventies vibe of this Italian Vogue cover for the August 2005 issue. Shot by Steven Meisel, model Snejana Onopka looks so ethereal.

Mario Testino's editorial for this months V magazine has produced some of the hottest shots since Steven Meisel's 'dogging' editorial that was deemed too racy for Italian Vogue. Grubby, sweaty, and oh-so-cool, the pictures are definitely worth a look. These are my personal favourites.

Bellaju

In an array of bright and beautiful colours, Bellaju's 100% silk pieces are tiny slices of summer that succeed in being high in impact whilst still mainating a subtle feeling of delicacy. All the pieces are handmade in Vietnam and their exotic beginnings are refletced in the wide choice of colours and fine embroidery. Vibrant in colour and timeless in style, the pieces are perfect for anyone, of any age, who likes sugar, spice, and all things nice. They also have a sumptuous velvet range for extra luxury. Request a catalogue or buy online at http://www.bellaju.com/ . Look out for their summer 09 range which is out soon.

To Tie-Dye For....

I was almost scared off tie-dye for life when, aged eleven, I was laughed at in a newsagents by a pair of spotty youths in full camo gear for wearing a home-made pink die-tye t-shirt. However, undeterred I am once again loving the two-tone wonder that is tie-dye. There are some amazing, and very chic, tie-dye pieces around at the moment which are perfect with a biker jacket and gladiators for spring in the city, or low-key with a tan at the beach.

Anna and Boy

'Bridgette Bardot goes surfing down under ' is the feeling of Anna and Boy swimwear, created by Anna Hewett and Lil Boyd. The laid back prints, relaxed cover ups, and surfer friendly low-luxe styles reflects the brand's Australian heritage. The culmination of Anna and Lil's career at Australian vogue, the brand plays homage to their style-credentials and is yet another stylish brand to put Australia firmly on the style map. After booking my summer holidays I'm lusting after their Ikat Print and tie-dye triangle bikini with the purple Africa kaftan to cover up with. The website's catalogue just shouts of lazy summer days with it's bohemian styling and softly lit photography, check it out at http://www.annaandboy.com/ to feel suitably inspired for summer. Available through the U.K based website http://www.bunnyhug.co.uk/

Californian Cool

I've always wanted to be cool enough to just carry a skateboard and have a burning desire to get a chopper, so it's probably unsurprising that I have an unwavering affection for Lords of Dogtown (Dir. Catherine Hardwicke, 2005). It immediately transports me to the dry heat of 1970s California and makes me want to pull on a black fedora and crochet bikini. With more than one bohemian bone in my body, the nonchalant Californian style of the Dogtown kids is inspirational in so many ways. Boys with waist length hair, dittos jeans, and sunbathing in swimming pools-surely the epitome of grunge cool.
